Consciously Creating Connective Community
Happy Imbolc blessings to you all.
What a beautiful day to be celebrating imbolc, the festival of Brighid the Goddess of healing, inspired wisdom, smithcraft and poetry. Goddess of fire, the hearth, energy, fertility. Imbolc we celebrate the earth starting to warm, starting to get ready to move away from the darkness of winter, to step into the light of spring. The centre point of the dark half of the year. As we do this, bless the seeds that we want to blossom with the coming of spring. As the animals of our land start to bring new life in at this time, let us bring in new life too, as we move forward with that which we would like to see birth for us and others in our lives.
One of the animals assocoiated with Brighid and imbolc is the sheep.
Sheep do represent fertility, as this is the time of year when lamba are born on the land, showing that spring is on the way. The rams horns also is a representation of pan, the god of the wild.
Sheep teach us to maintain balance within our lives, but to keep agile and moving at all times. They teach of a community and the positive attributes of doing so. Sheep are about undersdtanding your place within the community but also to keep your perspective in that understanding. They lead very peaceful lives sheep, often minding their own business, so they teach about the peace that can be had by concetrating on what is and for you, not others.
